ATTENTION ALU STUDENTS:
For all students on orders to attend a resident class at the Army Logistics
University (ALU), Fort Lee, Virginia- please call Central Reservations at 1-866-363-5771 to book
your rooms at designated hotels that have been blocked for your class. These blocked rooms may be
released two weeks prior to the beginning of a course, which may result in difficulties for students
being lodged elsewhere. Questions can be answered 24 hours a day by the ALU Staff Duty Officer
(804) 765-8440/8441, or DSN 539-8440/8441.
TSED Rededication:
BG Lynn Collyar invites the public on Friday, November 20, 2009, to celebrate the
first new opening of an Ordnance training facility at Fort Lee. The Tactical Support Equipment
Department (TSED) will be rededicated to MG Jackson Rozier, who was born and raised in Richmond,
Virginia. The new state-of-the-art facility greatly increases the student capacity and quality
of training for Ordnance Soldiers and Non-Commissioned Officers.

Ordnance begins new era at Fort Lee
FORT LEE, Va. (Sept. 24, 2009) -- After training Soldiers at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., for nearly a century, the U.S. Army Ordnance School cased its colors, packed up and headed south.
Brig. Gen. Lynn A. Collyar, U.S. Army Ordnance School, commanding general, and Command Sgt. Maj. Daniel A. Eubanks, Ordnance School regimental command sergeant major, uncased their colors at the Sustainment Center of Excellence headquarters building Friday, marking the official arrival of the U.S. Army Ordnance School at Fort Lee. |

Ordnance Three Mile Run
On Friday, September 25, 2009, the soldiers of the ODC&S, located at Fort Lee, Virginia, joined the Commander, USA Combined Support Command and Sustainment Center of Excellence (CASCOM and SCoE) for a three mile run. The day included a ceremony whereby all soldiers at Fort Lee changed their patches to the new official SCoE patch, depicting a torch surrounded by five stars. The day culminated with a picnic at the Hideaway. |

Taking the plunge for science

Edgewood High School students prepare for a tug-of-war versus their Soldier hosts during an Oct. 3 visit to Forward Operating Base Wolverine. One goal was for students to gain an appreciation for how Ordnance Soldiers train. They witnessed a perimeter defense operation and took part in several hands-on events, including firing military weapons and paintball guns. The students ended their tour with a tug-of-war victory on their third try. The visit was coordinated by the APG Partners In Education program which has been consistently supported by leadership and Soldiers from the 61st Ordnance Brigade. |
Army units capture DoD awards
Two Army units are being recognized Oct. 29 as winners of Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards.
The 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery from Fort Bliss, Texas, and the 610th Brigade Support Battalion from Fort Riley, Kansas, were named winners in the large and small, respectively, categories for field-level awards.
The awards were presented Oct. 29 during the 2008 DoD Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition in Denver, Colo.

Combatives still big at APG
Move over, WWF! Step back, Ultimate Fighting Championship!
Soldiers at Aberdeen Proving Ground now engage in quarterly “Combatives” tournaments, conducted by the 61 st Ordnance Brigade, offering up a spectacle of hand-to-hand, physically grinding engagements between two evenly weighted contestants.

Interested in becoming an EOD specialist?
The U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal Recruiting Team is accepting applications from male and female Soldiers, of any MOS, interested in serving as EOD specialists. Must: have PULHES of 111121 or better with normal color vision, have GM score of 105 or better, be able to qualify for TS clearance and be capable of wearing protective gear in confined areas.
